Now that Emma is getting older she has reached the inevitable age of asking tons of questions......and repeating the answers we give her.
And once I answer the question, that's not the end of it.....oh no, she remembers every word I've said and continues to repeat it.
Let me just give you an example:
Olivia went to the doctor to get her shots (poor baby!) and Emma, confused as to why Olivia is screaming and crying for 10 minutes, thinks she is sick. I explained that babies need to get shots so they won't get sick. A couple hours pass by and she comes to me and repeats that babies gets shots so they won't get sick. So I told her yes, that's the reason Olivia got her shots.
An hour goes by, and again she comes and repeats the same answer I've given her.
Another hour, same scenario.
After she wakes up from her nap, same old story.
While playing "Go Fish", can you guess? Same old scenario.
Now this might not seem so bad, but each time she comes back to me, it sounds sillier and sillier, and I just keep thinking there must have been a better way to explain this! And it's almost as if she keeps coming back because the answer just doesn't sound right.....so at this point, I start adding a little more and a little more to expound on the general reasoning for getting shots.
One thing I know about myself is I am awful at explaining things. I really try.....and I really fail! And the more I try, the worse it ends up......just ask Edwin. Sometimes I wind myself into this completely other place and don't even know how I got there.
And poor Emma is just looking to understand!
Well, after about 50 times of this back and forth, back and forth, she comes back and tells me "So Olivia is sick and she is getting shots so that she can get rid of being sick and she can't stop being sick until she has lots of shots and crys a lot?"
WHAT?!
I don't know where she gets it.
